According to Hon. Champika Ranawaka Minister of Megapolis and Western Development, it is important to protect the historic landscapes culture and cuisine of Sri Lanka.
Although many historic landscapes in Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa area have been claimed historically important, not alot has been done to protect the historic value of Kotte said Hon. Champika Ranawaka. Protecting the Sri Lankan culture and heritage is what makes it attractive to tourists as well as Sri Lankans living abroad he added.
This project has been aligned with the vision of His Excellency Maithripala Sirisena, President and Hon. Ranil Wickremesinghe Prime Minister of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. A launch of an authentic Sri Lankan restaurant will only add to the many plans underway to showcase the Kotte area as a heritage site.
In addition to the chief guests, the chairman and the board of directors,the hospitality teams and project implementing and monitoring teams of Waters Edge participated in the religious rituals. This was followed by the foundation stone laying ceremony to mark the launch of the construction. The Waters Edge property has all the right makings to launch a Sri Lankan restaurant and this venture will also contribute to transform Waters Edge into a mega revenue generating entity said Chamath de Silva, Chairman of Waters Edge.
